There are a few special people placed on this planet who serve their lives to neglected animals. Those who give innocent animals; the ones who can't speak or advocate for themselves a chance at a loving home. And then there are the even fewer who help the animals who aren't easy to rehome. The ones who may not make great house pets. The ones like our very own Mr. Binx.
Binx was found at a construction site as a terrified young cat. Throughout his time at the shelter, it was determined Binx would be better off being placed in a working "home" like a barn. They understood his need to be outside and saw his potential to live a productive life keeping rodents out of barns. In June 2023, Binx came to the farm to start his Barn Cat Academy training program. As we worked with him, we realized he was scared of everything. We brought him food, he hissed. We brought him water, he hissed. Changed his litter box... hissed. We moved slowly with him. For months, we simply gave him the food and care he didn't always have so maybe he would realize we were safe people.
Once he graduated barn cat training, he continued to hang around our goat barn. He was always interested in what we were doing but would keep his distance. Over time, he would get closer and closer to us as we worked on cleaning out his feeding area and the goat's area. And then he did something crazy. He bumped his head on our hands as we worked. Like he was almost saying, "hey, pay attention to me!" He was demanding some pets! From that day forward, he has continued to come out of his shell and gifted us with showing us his incredible personality. He is now one of our most social kitties who loves receiving affection from anyone willing to give. He demands his treats and LOVES a good cat bed. He has won the hearts of people all over the world and I know they share our gratitude to those at CCC who helped rescue Binx and give all cats a chance no matter their adoptability.
